American Express Queenstown Winter Festival announces stellar line-up
for the NZ Comedy Gala

Queenstown - Queenstown looks forward to welcoming a stellar line-up of favourite Kiwi comedians for the NZ Comedy Gala at the Queenstown Memorial Centre on Tuesday 25th June, as part of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival.

American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Manager Lisa Buckingham says she is thrilled with the line-up, which includes Brendhan Lovegrove, Paul Ego, Dai Henwood, Urzila Carlson, Ewen Gilmour and Jeremy Corbett.

“I know festival goers are in for a night of great comedy and side-splitting laughter, so it’s definitely not a show to be missed! Comedy is a regular favourite on the Festival calendar, and usually among the first events to sell out,” says Lisa.

Lisa provides a timely reminder that ticket sales for the various events across the 10 day Festival in June begin on Monday (29 April) and that those who want guaranteed giggles should get in quick.

No stranger to the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival, Jeremy Corbett looks forward to visiting Queenstown again and notes two reasons why he loves Festival.

“It makes my Auckland friends very jealous, and the cold weather forces people indoors to watch our comedy. I love a captive audience,” says Jeremy.

It seems that Queenstown has a little too much to offer the popular comedian Dai Henwood.

“I love coming to Queenstown because I love the snow. However I have never seen it, because a good restaurant and a cocktail always gets in the way,” says Dai.

Tickets to the R18 NZ Comedy Gala will go on sale at 9am on Monday 29 April and can be purchased by visiting through calling 0800 FESTIVAL. Tickets cost $69. Tickets for other Festival big-hitters like the glamorous SKYCITY Casino Royale Ball and the charity boxing event Mountain Scene Thriller in the Chiller also go on sale at this time, along with exciting newcomers.

The NZ Comedy Gala is part of the 10 day American Express Queenstown Winter Festival, taking place from June 21st to June 30th.  To view other events in the programme, visit and sign up for the Friends of Festival newsletter to keep in the know about exciting upcoming events.
